Ramsgate Festival of Sound Line-up for 2024

Sonic trails, Tunnel gigs, ‘Under Water & Outer Space’ - Ramsgate Festival of Sound returns

Now in its 7th year, Ramsgate Festival of Sound returns with another brilliant line up of artists, performances and installations Thursday 22nd – Sunday 25th August.

Thursday’s opening event at St George’s church will be a synth-based concert like no other, headlined by LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER performing the music of Bach to modern day dance beats using his analog synth creation the Potakosmo.

The evening will also feature two opening acts - Rosie Carr and Microfilm (Mark Bandola & Richard Armstrong-Sealand) creating a trifecta of sonic brilliance. Concert ends at 9.30pm to allow for last train to London 22.07!

Friday night will take attendees underground into Ramsgate’s iconic WWII Tunnels for  ‘Water Holds Me Like a Lover’ a very special vocal and visual event curated by composer Donna McKevitt and filmmaker Susan Thomson.

Saturday features the annual free family day at Ellington Park with fun workshops by This Bean Spins, Katie McGarry, Taiko Dunlopo and more.

Live music begins at 5pm with Wyatt Riot followed by some lover’s rock music courtesy of DJ Front to Back before he hands over to the cosmic headliners The Future Psychedelics the Future presenting The Liquid Love Chronicles an immersive sonic exploration of love in all its forms via funk, soul and rock ’n’ roll. You’ll want to dance and dressing up is encouraged too – the theme is ‘Underwater, Outer Space’.

Busk at Dusk is back on the east cliff promenade on Sunday night with music taking place in the shelters and on the festival stage. Pie Factory Music will curate the main stage from 5pm, followed by a great new line-up of buskers 6-8pm before gypsy jazz duo Lost Revellers open for Sunday’s headlining act, the infectiously fun Gemma Rogers and band for a triumphant festival finale.

And don’t forget the festival favourite Sonic Trail! Thursday to Sunday you can enjoy six sound installations around the town centre and harbour, all free to attend, as are the two lunchtime concerts at St George’s – August 22nd Julie Peat and August 23rd Adam Coney.

On Sunday a family friendly ‘An Afternoon of Sound’ from The School of Noise features talks, performances & fun things to play!

There will be two film events at Ramsgate Community Cinema; ‘Delia Derbyshire: The Myths and the Legendary Tapes’ and live music to film by Mike McEvoy’s The Metanoisia Collective.
