The Margate Cup to launch this week
Reusable cup: Where in Margate can you get discounts?
A new reusable cup, which is a collaboration between Plastic Free Thanet X Oast Bakery X Rise Up Clean Up, will launch this Friday, June 14th.
Made from 100% recycled plastic and remains 100% recyclable at end of life, ‘The Margate Cup’ is not-for-profit and generates a small donation to Thanet’s Rise Up Clean Up.
The cup costs £2.50, and can be kept, washed and can be brought with the user for future discounts on coffee (and other hot drinks).
Each cup can be washed 900 times before end of life, so one cup saves 900 single-use cups.
If you don't want or need your cup you can return it to Oast to be recycled. You can also recycle it in your curb side plastics recycling.
A new campaign #ChooseToReuse will accompany launch of the new cup, encouraging people to use the cups they already own.
Participating coffee shops will be offering a discount to anyone using their own cup. There will be stickers appearing in the shop fronts of participating shops.
