Review: Should I visit Angelina's in Snodland, Kent?
“it was the midday Medi munch that caught the eye”
Having opened at New Year, Angelina’s in Snodland has been teasing customers into visiting with images of its stunning interior and mix of Mediterranean and British brunchtime dishes.
While Angelina’s does stay open into the evenings, serving up lunch, dinner and Sunday roasts, it was the midday Medi munch that caught the eye.
Deceptive from the outside, Angelina’s stretches back from Snodland High Street with beautiful high and airy ceilings. It has a marble-style bar at the back with banquette seating and stunningly-tiled floors - it has that high-end hotel feel to it, with bubbling atmosphere ricocheting off the shining surfaces.
On our visit, we opted for the Shakshuka (£11.50) - served in a hot iron pot, the rich ragu of red peppers and tomatoes with spinach was seasoned with cumin, cayenne and smoked paprika. It was topped with two perfectly-cooked poached eggs (you can choose between baked or poached), crumbly feta cheese and watercress. It comes with a delicious flatbread - akin to an American-style cornbread - and a Kentish potato hash with peppery, super-crispy baby potatoes in Parmesan. Perfect for dipping in the ragu.
We also had the more traditional Angelina’s Breakfast (£12.50), with smashed avocado on sourdough, topped with beautiful smoked streaky bacon, two healthy portions of chorizo, a poached egg and zinging charred tomato sweet chilli chutney. It’s absolutely worth noting that there is a brilliant service team and a real family atmosphere at brunchtime as there is a great, reasonable children’s menu on offer, too. Nothing was too much trouble. We will head back for the amazing-looking pasta lunches. Belting Brunch.
