Bears Ice Cream Imaginarium was founded by couple Phil Harrison and Vera Thordardottir in London in 2016.
Noting a lack of high-quality soft-serve ice cream in the capital and inspired by the ice cream culture in Vera’s home country, Iceland, the couple created an ice cream parlour brimming with creativity in ice cream-making.
Innovation is at the heart of the store, which serves completely unique ice cream recipes designed by award-winning chef Phil but also allows customers to get creative by mixing their own ice cream combos.
In 2019, Bears launched its creative scoop ice cream menu, all personally developed and made by Phil from the highest-quality ingredients. Not unlike a dish in a high-quality restaurant, the flavours are a symphony of taste notes and textures, all harmonised to provide a unique taste experience.
There are unique flavours such as Celeriac, Miso and Pecan Ice Cream, Blueberry, Lavender and Meringue Swirl Ice Cream and Beetroot, Raspberry and Wasabi Sorbet.
There is also an exciting twist on classic ice cream flavours such as Chocolate Everything and Salted Caramel Version 6. The ice creams quickly became a cult hit and have been featured on the menu at select partners like Hilton Hotel Chelsea, Soho House Festival and Covent Garden Ice Cream Festival, to name a few.
In 2022, Vera and Phil relocated with their family from London to Whitstable and, after discovering all the incredible produce that the county has to offer, quickly made the decision to relocate Bears Ice Cream production as well and started fulfilling their long-standing dream of shortening their supply chain and making their ice creams farm-to-tub.
Bears Ice Cream Imaginarium ice cream parlour and kitchen opened in Whitstable in June 2023 and has been welcomed by locals and tourists alike. The shop is on Whitstable High Street and open all year round.
