Star Field Camping in Kent looks forward to a summer outdoors

There's a selection of glamping units, from five-person safari tents to dressed bell tents, alongside spacious grass pitches

Star Field Camping and Glamping is excitedly preparing for its 2025 season, set to open at the end of May for its eighth year.

Bookings for this fantastic camping and glamping destination are available up until the end of September. They offer a selection of glamping units, from five-person safari tents to the option of dressed or naked bell tents, alongside spacious grass pitches.

The site is located just outside Cranbrook, a historic market town famous for its impressive Union Mill windmill. The closest train stations are Etchingham and Staplehurst, both offering mainline services to London, making this site a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The location serves as a fantastic base for exploring local attractions, with Sissinghurst Castle and its stunning gardens being a top draw, just a 10-minute drive away. A leisurely 2km downhill walk leads you to the town centre, which boasts an award-winning micro-pub, a popular historical pub, a new wine bar, and a delightful array of cafes and restaurants, with more set to open in the coming months.

The site itself is based on a working farm, home to a Countrystore, Café, Farm Shop & Nursery. The buzz of activity subsides in the evenings for a tranquil night under the stars.

This year marks the second season for the newly introduced separate camping area, Pixie’s Paddock, named in honour of the family’s cherished golden spaniel. It will feature a new shower facility, built by co-owner David. Each year, the team is committed to enhancing the site, prioritising essential upgrades and anything that elevates the visitor experience while ensuring the area remains spacious and private.

In 2024, Star Field had the honour of hosting its second wedding, a special occasion for the family-run business. Newly engaged couples may wish to attend Star Field’s open day in mid-May, providing an opportunity to explore the entire site and the glamping units before the public opening. Dates will be announced on social media, and the event is open to everyone interested in a visit.

Charity Farm also hosts The Trough Café, which will celebrate its second birthday in May. This industrial-style café has been a popular spot for campers seeking their caffeine fix. After securing a license last autumn, they are now offering alcoholic beverages as well.

Spring is a time for transformation, and with it comes a change to their menu. The sweet cupboard, filled with inventive homemade treats, will see the addition of some Spring-themed delights, while the deli counter and sandwich menu are also set for a refresh.

Dog owners can relish the freedom of bringing their beloved pets into the café and around the Countrystore. With an extensive selection of toys and treats, your dog may feel like they’ve entered paradise! As puppy season is in full swing, the Countrystore serves as an excellent venue for socialising vaccinated puppies, helping them acclimate to the larger world by starting with some friendly faces.

Human food offerings are plentiful at Cranbrook Farm Shop & Nursery, located right next door. Another family-run business, the farm shop is a favourite in the community, providing a diverse selection of local produce and delicious treats. The nursery and the 'Shop in the Garden' create a warm atmosphere, featuring an unexpectedly extensive range of plants and endless inspiration.

Enthusiastic shoppers will enjoy browsing the new Spring collections from White Stuff, Seasalt, Yerse, and Ariat available in the Countrystore, along with an expanding selection of gifts and garden décor.
