New season launched as Revelation Ashford welcomes back Create Music Village
Space, Omar Lye-Fook, Riskee & The Ridicule and Deptford Northern Soul Club among the highlights
Based in the stunning medieval St Mary’s Church in Ashford’s town centre, Revelation are hosting an eclectic mix of artists this autumn with their only Kent dates this year.
Britpop legends Space (30th September) celebrate their 25th anniversary (Spiders, Tin Planet and more). The chart-toppers have sold more than five million records worldwide and had 10 Top 40 UK singles, including the likes of Neighbourhood and Female of the Species.
Revelation are also the brains behind Ashford’s Create Music Village happening at venues throughout the town in October and are hosting some great gigs, starting with the amazing Deptford Northern Soul Club (11th October).
Uncovered at Coachworks (October 7th) brings a night of talented local musicians and bands showcasing their original content, while Kent grime punks Riskee & The Ridicule head there on October 20th. DNSC have been running club nights since 2016, bringing dance-centric soul records back on to the scene for the current and next generation of partygoers and audiophiles.
Kent’s Omar Lye-Fook (27th October) is without doubt one of the finest soul music talents the UK has produced. Hailing from Canterbury, Omar has collaborated with stars from Stevie Wonder to Erykah Badu and is known for tracks like There’s Nothing Like This. His unique voice and songwriting remain an utter joy.
Hannah Moule and the Moulettes Acoustic (28th October) bring music for indie, experimental, folk and classical lovers alike - a delicious interplay of dramatic orchestration, big riffs, string baths and kaleidoscopic lushness.
Former Wet Wet Wet lead singer Marti Pellow arrives with his one-man show (16th November), a combination of music and chat… and a must for all those diehard fans.
Before there was carolling, there was wassailing, where seasonal songs were exchanged for money, food and ale. The wonderful Eliza Carthy and Jon Boden’s Wassail (25th November), two of folk’s biggest names, tour their own special brand of seasonal music and tales.
