Infinite Monkey Cage star Robin Ince heads to Canterbury with Free Lecture
Part of the Public Lectures series from Canterbury Christ Church University
Part of the Public Lectures series from Canterbury Christ Church University, author and comedian Robin Ince will be appearing on Tuesday 21st February.
Robin's lecture is titled Weapons of Empathy.
Since writing his book I'm a Joke and So Are You, Robin has become increasingly engaged with trying to understand the disparity between how we project ourselves to the outside world and who we are on the inside. Weapons of Empathy will be about neuroscience, psychology and how books can lead us into the minds of others and help us understand their world. It will also contain jokes, impressions and poetry.
Robin Ince is best known as the host of Radio 4's The Infinite Monkey Cage with Professor Brian Cox - the show has won multiple awards including the Rose of Montreux and, most recently, The Arthur C Clarke award.
In 2022, he also made Reality Tunnel for Radio 4 which has just been nominated for a BBC Audio award. He is the author of I'm a Joke and So Are You, The Importance of Being Interested and Bibliomaniac, a book that was described by the Times Literary Supplement as "joyous, irreverent and more than a trifle eccentric – liberating and life-affirming."
He was awarded Author of the Year by The Bookseller's Association in 2022. He has just finished a world tour with Professor Brian Cox.
The event will take place on Tuesday 21st February, 6pm - 7pm, in Augustine Hall in Augustine House (Rhodaus Town, Canterbury). The lecture will be followed by a short Q&A with Robin, so have your questions ready!
Don't forget, our Public Lectures are free but booking is required - book your tickets here.
