Six Kent pubs make it into the 100 BEST GASTROPUBS IN BRITAIN list
The Canterbury area is home to no less than four top Gastropubs
The Sportsman in Seasalter has been named one of Britain’s top 10 best gastropubs in Britain for a sixth time at the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs Awards.
The Shepherd Neame-owned pub, run by brothers Stephen and Phil Harris, took 6th place in the list announced yesterday (Monday, January 24) at a ceremony in Manchester.
Hundreds of votes were cast to determine the Top 100 by industry experts including food critics and writers, gastropub chefs and other food influencers.
The Sportsman, which has held a Michelin star since 2008, has previously topped the list in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2021.
In at Number 8, The Fordwich Arms, Canterbury, also broke into the Top 10 and is another venue to hold a Michelin Star in the county.
At Number 12 was The Kentish Hare in Tunbridge Wells run by the Tanner Brothers, while The Duck at Pett Bottom, on the outskirts of Canterbury came in at Number 40.
In 45th place is The Dog at WIngham, Canterbury, while the Bridge Arms, also on the city’s outskirts took Number 88.
