Free Range Autumn Series Begins this week
Canterbury’s Free Range brings performances from Vula Viel & Peter Zummo plus the Free Range Orchestra album launch
Canterbury arts group Free Range (@free_ range_canterbury) will kickstart their Autumn series this week with its first event on Thursday 29th September - The Afro-jazz, post-punk, improv-groove band Vula Viel will be joined by trombonist Peter Zummo for a live session.
The first event will also see the Free Range Orchestra launching their new album ‘Connections’, which was recorded in two sessions at the Colyer-Fergusson Hall at the University of Kent.
The first was in May 2021 with pieces directed by David Leahy and Anna Braithwaite. The second, in July 2021, was given to a full house with special guest Evan Parker (saxes). It’s a beautiful recording by Sean Williams and Dan Herbert, produced by Sean with Paul Cheneour, with artwork by Russell Burden.
Copies of the album, released through RedGoldMusic, will be available at the event.
The launch takes place at Fond Coffee/ Fruitworks, 1-2 Jewry Lane, CT1 2NP. Doors open at 7.30pm, music starts at 8.00pm, and entry is free.
