French artists provide three installations for new illuminated trail at Leeds Castle

A new Christmas Lights trail featuring enchanting illuminations and festive music, will light up the historic Leeds Castle from 25th November 2022 to 1st Jan 2023.

Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle offers you the chance to wander between striking light installations designed by a range of international artists, all carefully choreographed to a soundtrack of festive music and designed to complement Leeds Castle’s enchanting story.

French artistic studio TILT will display three pieces of its work as part of the trail. One such is Bloom, which resembles a large flowering plant with dazzling, delicate luminescent pistils which constantly change colour. It is also displaying Bouquet d’abat-jours (Lampshades Bouquet) and Nightlights.

TILT was created in 2001. Its work is exhibited worldwide and explores light and its interplay with art, architecture and space, inspired by nature or everyday objects.

Matthew Findlay, Head of UK Trails for Sony Music/Raymond Gubbay Ltd, said: “We are hugely excited by the plans for this new trail, with a fantastic array of artists creating beautiful, new installations which will provide a real ‘wow’ factor for 2022.”

Be transported into a winter wonderland in this unique landscape, leading up to the spectacular moated castle. Discover the iconic Christmas Cathedral created with thousands of strings of bud lights; walk under giant baubles and beneath beautifully illuminated trees. Pause to reflect at the mesmerising, flickering flames in the fire garden, enjoy the larger-than-life light installations and don’t forget to wave at Father Christmas along the way.

This year, we are teaming up with Light Trail Specialists Raymond Gubbay, Sony Music and Culture Creative, to delight guests with this magical after-dark light trail which will add sparkle to Leeds Castle’s wintry grounds.”

Independent street food vendors bring a delicious twist with tasty treats on offer, while everyone loves also toasting a marshmallow over an open fire!
