Unique art group to show off their work in Margate store
More than 100 pieces will be available at the Harbour & Tide shop
The Sandra Art4All Art Studio presents 12 local artists with a varied range of abilities and learning impairments who will be exhibiting their artwork in the Proud 2 Create Art Gallery for six weeks at Harbour & Tide.
Among those exhibiting are five artists who were selected to be part of the Portfolio Exhibition 2023 at the Turner Contemporary in Margate and one artist selected for the Royal Academy London’s Young Artist Summer Show 2023.
At the Proud 2 Create Art Gallery, there will be more than 100 original paintings on display, created by artists whose ages range from 13-52 years old. The Sandra Art4All artists are inspired by a wide range of themes, from landscapes to urban environments, and from animals to abstracts, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
The show is informative, colourful and demonstrates what can be achieved, while opens conversations around turning difficulties into a gift.
Giving a voice that is not normally heard
All the artists exhibiting are part of the Sandra Art4All Art Studio, which was established by Sandra Hampton in 2016 to provide a platform for aspiring artists with special needs. The exhibition will showcase a vibrant collection of drawings, paintings and photographs from artists with learning impairments including Autism, Charge Syndrome, Hearing Impaired and Cerebral Palsy.
Sandra said; “We are thrilled that Katy Lassen form Harbour & Tide chose us to take care of her shop while she takes a well-earned brake. I could not be more delighted to hold our Pop-Up Gallery in her beautiful shop space.
“After an amazing summer Art Exhibition at The Margate School, we have continued to work hard to create this show for the community. A show that is informative as well as a feast for the senses and to continue our dialogue around artists who are Deaf, Autistic and Neurodiverse. Katy will return in November”.
The Artists
Verbal and signed communication can be difficult for many of the artists due to the range of their needs. Some may walk into the studio with clear anxieties. The art workshops allow them to express themselves and relax, whilst producing beautiful works of art. Artists receive the majority of the profits from any sales of the artwork.
Best of British
Among those who will be exhibiting are five young artists who were selected for Portfolio Exhibition 2023 at the Turner Contemporary, Margate.
Nessie, Dalibor, Celia, Amelia and Bethany’s group artwork, Recycle Plastic Heart has just been returned from the summer show at the Turner Contemporary and is now currently on display in the Harbour & Tide shop.
The studio was also delighted to have Celia selected to be part of the Royal Academy (RA) London’s Young Artist Summer Show 2023, earlier this year.
Out of over 20,000 entries, artwork from seventeen-year-old Celia, entitled My Diary, was selected to be a part of the 280 pieces at the prestigious Young Artist Summer Show.
Sandra says: "I am extremely proud of our Young Artists and I was very excited to attend the private view with Celia and her family at the Royal Academy at the start of July, where two RA invigilators commented that CeCe’s diary was worthy of the main summer exhibition. To work with such talent and unique individuals is a privilege and I am proud of the recognition our wonderful young artists are receiving”.
