REVIEW: Should I Visit SQUARE PEG PIZZA in CANTERBURY?

SQUARE PEG PIZZA, CANTERBURY
Grip it. Rip it. Dip it. A slogan to die for.
And Square Peg Pizza has already gripped Canterbury, ripped up the pizza rule-book and had us dipping into its Sun Street restaurant for a square pan of deep, deep Detroit-style goodness. Having only opened this year, the casual restaurant has dedicated its menu to the thick, airy and rectangular base pizzas, with crispy, cheesy edges.
On our visit we went for the regular size Carnivore, which comprises fior di latte mozzarella, pepperoni, jerk chicken, bacon, Korean BBQ sauce, oregano, Bolognese sauce (which tends to be a mainstay across most of the pizzas), green peppers, red onions, garlic mushrooms and Grana Padano sauce.
It’s fair to say that it’s a messy eat, but, oh my, it’s worth it. It’s light, it’s packed with flavour - what’s not to like? We didn’t feel we needed it this time, but there are options to rip and dip with sauces including balsamic honey and olive oil (yum), chimichurri (yummier) and truffle aioli (yummiest).
And look out for the You’re Welcome pizza with its curry lime aioli, jerk chicken and pineapple combo!
