Italian-American restaurant-deli Senza Fondeli opens in Tunbridge Wells, Kent

Locals bring renowned all-you-can-eat-lasagna concept home to Tunbridge Wells

A new Italian-American restaurant-deli has opened its doors on The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells.

Senza Fondeli has been created by brothers-in-law Joe Worthington and Charlie Sweet, who both live in Tunbridge Wells. Joe is the founder of London’s Senza Fondo in Shoreditch, known for its all-you-can-eat lasagna, while Charlie founded The Cocktail Social, a premium mobile bar company operating across London and the South East.

For Charlie, the opening marks a homecoming. Born in Sevenoaks and schooled in Tunbridge Wells, he returned to the town in 2022 with ambitions to open a venue locally. When Joe began looking to expand Senza Fondo beyond London, launching together in Tunbridge Wells felt like a natural next step.

Designed as a relaxed, all-day neighbourhood destination, Senza Fondeli serves everything from morning coffee and focaccia sandwiches to fresh pasta, sharing plates and evening cocktails.

Comfort classics such as Cacio e Pepe and Carbonara sit alongside charcuterie and antipasti. The much-loved bottomless lasagna is available every Tuesday, while the classic lasagna is served every day for eat-in and takeaway.

Alongside the restaurant and bar, the space also operates as a deli, stocking high-quality meats, including produce from neighbouring Old Spot Butchery, cheeses, Mediterranean pantry staples and takeaway wines.

The 90-cover venue draws inspiration from traditional Italian trattorias and lively Italian-American dining rooms, with warm wood panelling, eclectic artwork and striped linens creating a vibrant yet welcoming atmosphere.

Senza Fondeli also hosts live music, championing local artists and adding to the cultural energy of The Pantiles. The live music programme is overseen by local musician and event organiser Charlotte Lubbock, Charlie Sweet’s partner, reinforcing the venue’s family-run ethos.

Charlie Sweet, Co-Founder of Senza Fondeli said: “Opening in Tunbridge Wells feels like coming full circle. I grew up around here, and food has always been at the centre of everything for me - big flavours, music playing, everyone gathered around the table. We want Fondeli to feel like that: somewhere you come for dinner and end up staying all night.”

Joe Worthington, Founder of Senza Fondo and Co-Founder of Senza Fondeli added: “We’re excited to bring Senza Fondeli to the town we both now call home. We’ve seen how much people connect with Senza Fondo in London, and this feels like the right place to evolve the concept - creating a welcoming, day-to-night spot for the local community.”

Senza Fondeli is located at 50 The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells, TN2 5DA. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am - 11pm.
