Legendary DJ Tim Westwood takes residency at Kent bar
The cult figure will be playing hip hop and reggae once a month at The Source Bar
Big Dawg Tim Westwood - one of the country’s most iconic hip hop DJs - will be playing a monthly Wednesday residency at The Source Bar (@sourcemaidstone) in Maidstone.
The influential figure is considered a pioneer in the urban music scene and broadcasts on Capital Xtra.
His radio career has gone full circle, starting out hosting the Capital FM Rap Show until 1994 when he left to join BBC Radio 1.
It became the top ranked hip hop show in the UK at the time, with guests including Nas, the late Ol' Dirty Bastard and Method Man.
After almost 20 years with the BBC, he left to rejoin Capital FM on Capital Xtra in 2013.
Now he’s coming to Kent and will be taking over the midweek session for Raunch at The Source Bar once a month.
Raunch is the weekly takeover every Wednesday - which has run for 14 years - and Westwood will be playing hip hop and reggae for one of those each month, starting from February 16th.
