Rochester Independent College to showcase artworks

This exhibition celebrates the art and design produced by this year’s GCSE and A level

Rochester Independent College Art and Design students will be showcasing their work at the Pie Factory, Margate from 15th July - 3rd August 2022 .

This exhibition celebrates the art and design produced by this year's GCSE and A level students at Rochester Independent College (@rochesterindcollege).

The school, which was founded in 1984, has an International reputation with staff and students coming from all over the world. The art department encourages creativity in a variety of subjects including Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography, Textiles, 3D, and Digital Media and Design.

One artwork on show - entitled 'The morning before the battle' - is from a current Year 11 student and has just won the national ISA national award for Film and Digital Arts KS4 category 2022.

Jackie Clark, Director of Visual Arts and Marketing, at Rochester Independent College, says: "This is a wonderful opportunity for our talented students to showcase their work. For many this is especially exciting as it will be the first time their work has been shown in public."

On visiting Margate to plan the exhibition, Peyi, Year 13 Digital Media and Design Student, said: "Margate is such a creative place, it's so inspirational.”

Pie Factory (@piefactorymargate) has established itself as a hugely popular venue for exhibitions and events in Margate’s Old Town and will offer great exposure to the body of work being showcased by RIC.

Michael Daks, Head of Photography at Rochester Independent College, adds: "I was incredibly impressed by the level of creativity and technical ability shown by this years A Level photography students. Some truly outstanding work!"

Studying at Rochester Independent College combines academic rigour with a creative buzz. There is no uniform and students and staff are on first name terms. Accepting day students from the age of 11 to sixth form and boarders from 13, the average class size is 8.
