Which Kent shops are joining in Record Store Day?
Record Store Day returns this weekend on Saturday, July 17th
Vinyl has been weaving itself back into the hearts of music lovers over the past decade, sparking a resurgence of record stores, with dozens opening up across Kent.
This boom has fanned the flames of passion for the LP stalwarts and introduced a new generation of fans to the joys of vinyl.
There’s even a day - Record Store Day UK - in April when 200 independent record shops join together to celebrate the uniqueness of the industry.
Special vinyl release drops are made, there are reissues, rare records on offer and exclusives, with some shops hosting events to mark the day.
It’s a divisive event, with some in the industry writing it off as a money-making gimmick, which fails to epitomise the norms of what a record store would typically stock.
But off the back of what has been the toughest time for these independent shops, those behind Record Store Day have decided to do two extra record day drop events.
One is on Saturday, July 17, when a bumper crop of vinyl will be released.
Among the drop are Amigo The Devil - Covers, Demos, Live Versions, B-Sides - which is available for the first time ever - a limited edition Ash - BBC Sessions 1994-1999, and Boosie Badazz & MO3’s album Badazz MO3, made before MO3’s untimely death in November.
