'Fully stocked' Ramsgate pub available to hire out as AirBnb
Guests will be able to rent out the Queen Charlotte pub in Ramsgate as an Airbnb
Those who have frequented the Queen Charlotte in Ramsgate will remember well its unique, community vibe, with amazing food pop-ups, large selection of craft beer, live music, art exhibitions and events.
Hell, there was even poetry and tarot readings.
The beating heart of Addington Street, it was a shame, therefore, when earlier this year, as other venues opened their doors, the bohemian tavern remained closed.
But landlord Nigel Askew is now bringing it back to life and this time allowing people to have it all to themselves.
At weekends, people can rent out the whole three-bed townhouse and have the fully stocked pub - with honesty bar - to themselves, with Nigel just coming in to close up at the end of the night.
And that’s not all. During the week and weekends, the pub can be used for events and from November 1 - from Sundays through to Thursdays - customers can head back inside and prop up the bar once again.
Food pop-ups will also be starting soon, with a vegan event first up on the menu.
Nigel says the mix of uses makes it viable.
“The Airbnb part is a saviour really, as it wouldn’t survive just as a pub,” he explains. “Younger people’s pubs are busy but older people's places are still only half full.
“We’ve had a lot of people booking to stay already, mainly groups of girls and we’ve had celebrities - although I don’t like to say who. They can get their own drinks, have the pub to themselves, it’s a novelty really.”
Guests can walk straight into their own pub with a fully stocked bar and an open fire.
Inside has been curated with a quirky interior and vinyl collection with vintage Dansette’s and people can bring their own records, too. There’s also a modern stereo, of course.
But this is a pub remember and closing times still apply, so no all-nighters.
“It’s still under pub rules so I’ll go in to check everything’s ok and when they go upstairs, I’ll close it down,” Nigel adds.
Upstairs is a townhouse over two floors, including a full commercial kitchen, bathroom, three bedrooms and a living area which was previously used for pop-up dining and art exhibitions.
Nigel says he is looking forward to reopening the building, which was built in 1810, and welcoming back punters.
“It’s only when you’re closed that you realise how much people miss it,” he adds.
The pub is available for six people to stay.
