Folkestone DIY Party Starters create new event filled with immersive glitz, glam, drag, DJs and circus performers

Folkestone DIY Party Starters ‘Dance For Love’ will put on their first festival ‘Field Vibrations’ this summer for a day and night of music, camping, immersive glitz, glam, drag, DJs and circus performers.

Co-Founder Toni S grew up near Folkestone and recently worked for a themed club night organising events in some of the UK’s top venues as well as a boutique summer festival.

“Dance For Love, a DIY party focused on bringing underground music to Folkestone. Our aim is to host quality programming that empowers the local music scene, amplifies and nurtures grassroots culture whilst ensuring diversity and community benefit,” explains Toni.

“We always ask our community to have open hearts, minds and ears when they come to our events. Sometimes it’s serious, sometimes it’s silly, but it’ll always be sassy. We’ve received such a heartwarming response from everyone and we’re currently campaigning for a multi-purpose venue with a late licence.”

Dance For Love has teamed up with their friends from Cole Farm - known for hosting their own ‘ColeFest’ on the same site in 2017 and 2018.

“We also wanted to support local business and have invited legends of the Old High Street, Folklore, to run the bar selling their signature cocktails. Plant-Based food and smoothies will be provided by Rendezvous Street’s Planet Earth Kitchen.

“For the entertainment we have invited our favourite Kent artists, Musicians and DJs to soundtrack the festival. We will also have Dita Garbo, a Drag Queen from Folkestone who runs a new sell-out show of top drag talent called Punk & Plume. They always put on a phenomenal performance and we’re super excited for them to host the runway stage with their outfit of Drag & Circus performers.”

Co-Founder Alex Dobbs, a local Drone Videographer said: Dance For Love is a small independent collective who all have their normal day jobs on the side.

“We have pooled in all of our savings and efforts to put on a great festival and we would love to at least break even so that we can continue putting on events. We’ve tried to keep the tickets as cheap as possible for our community, so please come along and support the cause, it’s going to be a magical day and night!”
