Twice Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar is getting ready to open his newest restaurant Riwaz at The Pantiles (@thepantiles) in Tunbridge Wells.

The pioneering restaurateur, who hails from Jamshedpur in East India, is taking over the former Woods premises, with a planned November opening.

Kochhar revealed his plans during the recent Pub in the Park festival in Dunorlan Park with The Pantiles team confirming the news on its website.

The chef and TV regular is credited with changing the way people perceive and experience Indian cuisine in the UK.

He began his career at The Oberoi Hotel Group in India before moving to the UK in 1994.

In 2001, he earned his first Michelin star at Tamarind - one of the first Indian restaurants in the world to receive the accolade - which it holds to this day.

He then opened his own restaurant Benares in Mayfair in 2002, which earned him a second Michelin star.

His portfolio has since grown and includes two Buckinghamshire restaurants -Sindhu in Marlow and Hawkyns in Amersham - and Indian Essence in Petts Wood.

In March 2019, he launched Kanishka in Mayfair and last year, a second Marlow venue, Vaasu.
