Rochester Food & Drink Awards announced
From the creators of New Openings Rochester (@newopeningsrochester), the first ever Rochester Food & Drink Awards launches in early 2021
This January will see the inaugural Rochester Food & Drink Awards celebrating the very best nosh and tipples in an area that has more than 100 venues, retailers and suppliers contributing to its rich and varied food scene.
The awards are designed to recognise and celebrate those businesses dedicated to creating great quality tastes and experiences for the residents of Rochester and beyond.
The Rochester Food & Drink Awards will be held as a digital award ceremony in March (date tbc).
Nominations open on 4th January 2021 when the general public and businesses themselves have the opportunity to nominate their favourite food and drink businesses across a host of categories.
Nominations will take place via the website, and will be open until the end of January.
These nominations will then be judged by a Rochester-based panel of food and drink experts, and their shortlist put back to the public to cast a deciding vote to decide a winner.
Alex Watson, Organiser of the Rochester Food & Drink Awards, and New Openings Rochester:, said: “I launched New Openings Rochester during the first lockdown to help support the small and independent food and drink businesses in and around Rochester, my hometown. The Rochester Food & Drink Awards are a natural extension of that and I am looking forward to giving those businesses the recognition that they deserve, at a time when they need it the most".
Alex has been heavily involved in the London food and drink scene for the past 15 years and has organised many award ceremonies and high profile events, including The Foodism 100 Awards, The 30 Under 30 Awards, National Pizza Day and Japan Week, the UK’s largest celebration of Japanese food, drink and culture.
