What’s on at Quex House and Gardens in 2026?

Quex House & Gardens marks 100 years of history and culture

In 2026, the Powell-Cotton Trust celebrates a century of caring for Quex House, its gardens and the remarkable Powell-Cotton Museum.

But the story starts even earlier. The museum’s first gallery was built in 1896 in the garden of Percy Powell-Cotton’s Birchington home, designed to house his growing collection of natural history and world-culture objects. Today, those displays include the museum’s extraordinary African and Asian wildlife dioramas - the largest collection of its kind in Europe!

Across 2026, a dynamic programme of exhibitions, talks and events will explore the legacy of the collections while opening up new conversations. Highlights include a temporary exhibition by local artist Sam Parsons (from 1st April), a redisplay of Zulu material culture (from 16th July) and a series of talks and workshops examining decolonisation and museum practice today. PCT100: Past & Present will invite contemporary creatives to respond to the Trust and its future across the year.

Beyond the galleries, Quex’s Grade II-listed house, restored gardens and seasonal suppers in collaboration with Angela’s of Margate promise culture with atmosphere and flavour.
