GRAVESHAM FRINGE FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR 2024
From the 1st-9th June there will be activity across multiple venues in the town centre and beyond
The Gravesham Fringe Festival returns in 2024 for its fifth anniversary and to celebrate the amazing creativity and inventiveness that thrives in the area.
From the 1st to 9th June, Gravesham will be buzzing with activity across multiple venues in the town centre and beyond.
There’s a new take on a classic tale with Maybe Dick by Hambledon Productions on board resident Lightship LV21 – Herman Melville’s classic tale of revenge and retribution is retold in this inventive, comedic adventure on the high seas.
The ship will also be open on Saturday 8th for Open Decks, a workshop introducing young people to vinyl and the art of turntable mixing.
The live music line-up, from ukulele masterclasses to a full-on rock-out, will be central to the festival, particularly at micropub The Mole Hole on the High Street.
A number of new venues are on board this year, including Blake’s nightclub, which will be presenting two pre-club shows, including bottomless opera and musical theatre!
Iron Pier Brewery in Northfleet is hosting an exhibition of the work of Duncan Grant, while there will be a limited run of a special Fringe beer for visitors to Iron Pier, as well as many other watering holes in the borough.
Round the corner from Iron Pier, the recently-opened Clubbs Yard studios will be open for Fringe visitors to see the work by the many resident artists.
Pre-Edinburgh stand-up comedians have made Gravesham Fringe a regular stop-off on their way north and this year Phil Green and Dylan Dods, among others, are leading an impressive comedy line-up performing at The Woodville Studio.
Also at the Woodville, GTown Talents will be presenting their urban-music showcase, giving emerging artists the opportunity to perform alongside established professionals in an evening buzzing with energy.
The Brick People will be taking up residence in the Kent Room at The Woodville with Lego activity tables, including timed speed and tower builds.
TJ’s pub will be hosting workshops, performances and music throughout the week and local artists will be exhibiting at St George’s Arts Centre, on the quayside and at other venues throughout the borough.
The programme is emerging daily, so check online and social media in the coming weeks.
