MARGATE SOUL FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES LINE-UP FOR 2024
Headliners include Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, Dexter Wansel, Heatwave, House Gospel Choir and Izo Fitzroy
Margate’s longest running music event, Margate Soul Festival, returns with a stellar line up of international and homegrown headliners including from Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th August 2024.
Headliners include Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, Dexter Wansel, Heatwave, House Gospel Choir and Izo Fitzroy.
There will also be a live reggae show featuring Peter Hunnigale, Sandra Cross and Tipper Irie.
Plus the festival’s packed DJ line up is now revealed and includes Brandon Block, Booker T and Derrick Patterson - see below for the full list of DJs.
Borrowing Margate’s incredible coastline and horizon as the ultimate backdrop MSF 2024 is a packed long weekend of soul music, with a new main stage location.
The Sunset Stage will move to Newgate Lower Promenade beneath the iconic Lido sign, a location historically used for entertainment and escape.
Revel in the magic of special sunsets next to the sandy beach, all while our electrifying funk and soul legends grace the stage. This will be the ultimate beach party, bringing the best music to Margate but taking care of its treasured home.
And in 2024, they’re also making a positive impact.
“Respecting the natural landscape and borrowing the space mindfully from its inhabitants is our priority,” they say.
“Using eco-generators and low power lighting, partnering with key environmental charities and partners and placed under the protection of the cliffs. Margate Soul Festival 2024 will weave together soulful melodies and a deep reverence for the environment.”
Margate is 1 hr 45 mins from London and easy to access via train. Ticket holders can also choose to add a bike rental to their booking via Margate’s social enterprise, The Bike Shed, to navigate a car-free path to the festival or pick up the free soul train which will be operating across the festival.
Margate Soul Festival is delivered in partnership with social enterprise, NewMarGate CIC. To help support our stunning coastline and special town. £1 per ticket will go back into the local community.
In previous years, Margate Soul Fest has hosted Terri Walker, Samm Hennshaw, Emili Sande, the Brand New Heavies and many more. The 3 day festival brings in 4,000 ticket holders, and each year acts as a huge economic driver for the summer season.

Dexter Wansel
Philadelphia soul maestro Dexter Wansel, a key figure in the '70s and '80s, graces Margate Soul Fest. As a producer, composer, and keyboardist, Wansel's innovative contributions to the genre are celebrated. Known for his work with The O'Jays and Patti Labelle, his musical genius remains influential.
Izo Fitzroy
Dynamic and soulful, Izo Fitzroy brings her powerhouse vocals to Margate Soul Fest. With a fusion of blues, gospel, and soul, Fitzroy's emotive performances and poignant lyrics resonate deeply. Her authenticity and storytelling prowess make her a rising star in the soul and blues scene.
House Gospel Choir
House Gospel Choir merges the worlds of house music and gospel to create a vibrant live music experience, bringing together outstanding singers and uplifting spirits with every performance.
Shalamar
Formed in the late 1970s, Shalamar is an iconic R&B and soul group known for their energetic performances and timeless hits, embodying the very essence of the disco era with a modern twist.
Heatwave
Renowned for their smooth blend of funk, disco, and soul, Heatwave has left an indelible mark on the music scene with classic anthems like "Boogie Nights" and "Always and Forever", showcasing their unique sound and enduring appeal.
Harold Melvin's Blue Notes
As pioneers of the Philadelphia soul movement, Harold Melvin's Blue Notes have captivated audiences worldwide with their rich vocal harmonies and socially conscious themes, leaving a lasting legacy in the soul music genre.
