In the heart of the picturesque seaside town of Whitstable lies The East Kent, a cosy pub with log fire to welcome you in on chilly days and a large outdoor area for al fresco dining in the summer.  

Natalie and Andrew Hennessy have headed up The East Kent since 2018 when they returned from Australia, swapping Bondi Beach for Whitstable beach (where Natalie grew up!).  

With Natalie’s experience as a chef and restaurant professional, together they have created a popular pub with a fresh, warm ambience. 

Locals and visitors go back to The East Kent time and again to enjoy lunch, dinner, light bites or a quick pizza. 

Menus feature a diverse mix of global delights from English Pub Classics and Sunday Roasts to Asian Duck Pancakes or even a Thai Chicken Curry. 


Passionately crafted using the finest ingredients, their homemade food packs a punch with a little something extra – spot the Aussie influences!

They also have Whitstable’s only Wood-Fire Kitchen tucked away in the garden, where the chefs cook authentic pizzas as well as slow-roasting aromatic lamb overnight for their signature Mediterranean sharing platter alongside tzatziki, Greek salad and flatbreads.

There’s a wonderful choice of premium beers, fine wines and bubbles by the glass, while behind the EK Cocktail Bar, the resident mixologist will concoct classic (the best Margarita in town) and contemporary cocktails (try the new Cherry Bakewell Sour!) to get you in the mood for celebration.

The Snug, which seats up to 16 on one large table, is also perfect for your special occasions. 

Open every day of the week, The East Kent is always on hand and even makes its pizzas available for takeaway or delivery!

TOP TIP: Look out for Wood-Fire Wednesdays when you can grab two pizzas for just £20. Available every Wednesday from 5pm.
