Wellness: The White Room Meditation (Column)
Supported Article: Opening on the high street in Broadstairs with a message of peace, love and light
“Hello my name is Michelle. It was around 12 years ago that I discovered meditation.
As far back as my childhood I have always had a fascination with crystals and angels, so it wasn’t completely alien to me when my dad started to talk to me about meditation and attending a local spiritualist church. We all started to notice a change in my Dad, he became calmer and started talking about feelings and emotions - something we hadn’t seen before. This inspired me to attend and I can honestly say it changed my life.
I was quite shy as a child with little self confidence and grew into a naive and anxious teenager. All doctors could suggest were long walks and tablets and I was left with buried feelings, emotions and trauma. But meditation has a great way of opening you up and making you look within yourself; I now believe this to be such an important and healthy part of my, or anyone’s, life no matter what maybe lurking behind the face that we show to the world.
Meditation balanced me, made me see things clearer and made me deal with my subconsciously suppressed emotions and feelings. I was finally able to have some cleansing, emotional and honest talks with myself and others. I began to really enjoy and appreciate each meditation, finding such a natural high. I had come from a place of hiding to a place of freedom, acceptance and, finally, self love.
Wishing the meditation classes were more frequent, I converted my garage with the aim of offering a calm and welcoming place for people to come and be at one with themselves. I also started to make crystal gifts, too, to encourage a positive mindset, kindness and self love.
After growing my business at home for many years, this year I have had the opportunity to move to my hometown high street in Broadstairs and continue my message of peace, love and light. The White Room Meditation will turn five in February 2024 and offers super cute handmade crystal gifts, a purpose-built card reading table, gemstone bracelet making workshops and regular meditation classes.
I find myself continually learning from meditation, about myself and others. I shall continue my journey to spread peace, love and light. Namaste, Michelle.
