Kent Boutique Hotel makes it into the UK's Top 5
The Pig at Bridge Place near Canterbury took fourth spot in the list
A Kent country house has been named at Number 4 in the Top 50 Boutique Hotels in the UK.
The Pig at Bridge Place on the outskirts of Canterbury made it onto the much-anticipated list, which is curated and voted by leading industry experts, hoteliers, travel writers and influencers.
The Southeast was represented with seven hotels in the Top 50; The Pig at Bridge Place (4th), Beaverbrook (13th), The Gallivant (29th), The Wilde Rabbit (31st), Cliveden House (39th), Great Fosters (41st), and Gravetye Manor (44th).
Meanwhile, this year’s number one is Lime Wood Hotel, set in the heart of the spectacular New Forest national park.
Nestled just outside the historic village of Bridge The Pig at Bridge Place is one of a litter of seven Pig sites across the country.
The intriguing old building has seen it all through its many years of existence, and over the past four decades has played host to some wild parties and bands including Led Zeppelin in the 1970s.
With many period features, from huge warming fireplaces to secret stairways and endless nooks and crannies, there is something to see round every corner.
Food at the Pig will play a central role during your visit, with dishes prepared using ingredients from the garden, while there are also seven bedrooms in the main house, 12 boudoirs in the Coach House and two-family friendly lodges.
For the more adventurous, there are the Pig’s seven Kentish Hop Pickers’ Huts, which sit grandly on stilts along the river in the grounds of the main house. Each has been made using reclaimed materials and play host to a double bedroom with a fitted bathroom and a cosy wood burning stove.
