Kent outdoor wellness brand Sea Scrub Sauna has announced its aims to submit a planning application for a purpose-built sauna and cold plunge venue at Viking Bay.
The proposed site sits directly against the chalk cliffs, adjacent to the existing café, looking out over the horseshoe sweep of one of the most recognisable beaches on the Kent coast.
If approved, the two-storey building would house changing facilities and a café on the ground floor. On the upper level: a large social sauna and a barrel sauna, alongside a cold plunge.
Robin Bartlett, co-founder of Sea Scrub Sauna, said: "Broadstairs has a very special quality to it. The cove, the cliffs, the community. It felt like the right place for a site that genuinely earns its setting. We're hoping to create something the town is proud of."
Sea Scrub Sauna was founded by cousins Robin and Luke following time spent on the Norwegian fjords, where wood-fired floating saunas and icy swims are woven into everyday life.
Since launching at Margate Main Sands, the brand has grown to sites at Whitstable Harbour, Macknade in Faversham and the flagship Folkestone Harbour Arm venue.
The planning application is due to be submitted to the local planning authority shortly. Sea Scrub Sauna will share further updates as the process progresses.
