New Lisa McGuinness exhibition to focus on Thanet and its people

‘Local People’ will be on show at Ramsgate’s Wooden Box Gallery

Lisa McGuinness focuses on the Isle of Thanet and its people in a brand new exhibition opening next month.

The works will go on show at the Wooden Box Gallery in Ramsgate from 7th to 19th of September.

Lisa said: "It’s an exhibition I’ve been working on for the last six months. It’s portraits of the people of Thanet. Telling the stories of their relationship with the Isle. It will be the first time they’ve all met each other I am excited to get them all together.”

Having enjoyed a long career in commercial fashion, Lisa returned to her first love, painting. Lisa’s work is 'expressive, brought to life by using acrylics, watercolours and ink'. Her passion for fashion allows her to use her art, translating it into magazine covers, advertising and branding.

Lisa added: “It’s been the culmination of blood sweat and tears, but all for the very important reason that I love our little Isle. My usual work can be a bit fantastical so it was really important to me that I did portraits of local people with integrity. We’ve all ended up on this Isle, we’ve all got our own story our own defining moments and how better to tell them than with a juicy portrait.”

Lisa’s work can now be seen in a permanent exhibition space at Gallery 7 (until the end of August) in Margate Old Town, the Roller Disco at Dreamland, as well as in stockists within the Kent area.
