New installations to transform Christmas Lights Trail at Leeds Castle

Chandelier Walk, Pixel Tree & Spiral Spinners amongst the new artwork on a new route

A sparkling collection of new installations is set to wow visitors to Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle later this month.

Held at the Kent castle from Friday, November 24 to Sunday, December 31, the new installations and a new route will complement some returning favourites.

Appearing at one of Sony Music’s UK trails for the first time this year is Loomaland’s hypnotic Cygnus, whilst other mesmerising new features include 12 days of Christmas, by North Devon artist Woody Fox, and Cristina Ottonello’s Heart Walk.

Chandelier Walk, by Crescent Moon Events, is a series of beautifully designed chandeliers delicately suspended in the trees, whilst Squidsoup’s Feast of Light features immersive, glowing strings filled with all the colours of the rainbow.

Squidsoup is a UK-based collective of international artists and has exhibited across the globe including outside Sydney Opera House in Australia, Usina del Arte in Argentina and American film festival Sundance.

Creative studio ArtAV has created two new sculptures – Pixel Tree, a 12-metre high Christmas tree made of thousands of LED lights; and Spiral Spinners which are slowly rotating spiral trees casting light and shadow in different directions.

Carol of the Bells is another new installation designed by lighting and technical specialists White Light. It is a hugely impressive example of installations being choreographed to music, in which rows and rows of spheres are programmed to change colour in time to festive tracks.

Matthew Findlay, Head of UK trails for Sony Music/Raymond Gubbay Ltd, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing back Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle for 2023 which will feature incredible, new artistic innovations sure to delight and amaze visitors of all ages.”

Nestled in the Kentish countryside near Maidstone, Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle also offers a magical glimpse of Father Christmas along the way.

Grab a seasonal snack from one of the hand-picked street food vendors, who bring an indulgent twist to tempting treats on offer. Complete your walk under the stars with a festive *spiced winter warmer, *hot chocolate or *toasted marshallow and share it with someone special.
