England's Medieval Festival heads to the Ashdown Forest
Experience Jousting, archery, sword fighting, cannons and a grand parade
Jousting, archery, sword fighting, cannons and a grand parade are just some of the highlights at England’s Medieval Festival (@englandsmedfest).
After almost 30 years at Herstmonceux Castle, England’s Medieval Festival is moving to in The King’s Grove, Pippingford Park on the Kent/East Sussex border this August Bank Holiday (26, 27 & 28 August 2023).
A the heart of the Ashdown Forest, guests can immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, smells and spectacle of medieval times - you can even scoff and quaff real ales and mead as well as medieval-style food (with plenty of contemporary options).
Experience have-a-go jousting, archery, axe throwing, sword school, forest school, and the not-to-be-missed ‘kids battle’. Guests can also meet traditional crafts people, and take part in medieval experiences like blacksmithing, arrow making, brass-rubbing, calligraphy and wood working.
There’s a full line-up of traditional medieval music during the day and, for guests staying for the full weekend, there is foot-stomping folk music in the evenings star-gazing talks and a moonlit cinema showing medieval-themed classics.
The festival’s new location is a historic royal venue where Kings, nobility and invited guests came together to hunt, train for war, test their skills amongst each other and, most importantly, to celebrate at a medieval festival.
Weekend tickets, along with camping, glamping, live-in vehicles, and hotel package options are now on sale at www.englandsmedievalfestival.com
