Brand new 750-capacity venue opens in Margate

The Drill Shed launches on March 6th

A major new cultural venue is set to make its mark on the UK’s live music and events landscape with the launch of Drill Shed Margate.

The 750-capacity space designed to champion cutting-edge music, culture, and community-led programming.

The team behind the announcement said: “Located on the original landscape of the historic Margate Lido and the fast-evolving Cliftonville creative quarter, Drill Shed Margate has been developed to meet the growing demand for mid-scale venues outside London.

“The space fills a critical gap between grassroots rooms and large arenas, offering artists, promoters, and audiences a professionally equipped venue with the scale, ambition, and character to support nationally significant touring, club culture, and special one-off events.”

The venue is set to host live concerts, DJ-led club nights, festivals, brand activations, rehearsals, showcases, and cultural gatherings. With high-spec production infrastructure, adaptable staging, and a robust operational model, the venue is positioned as both a creative home for artists and a commercially viable destination for promoters and partners.

Kicking off on Friday 6th March, the opening night will feature Roni Size LTJ Bukem with Dynamite MC.

On Sunday 24 May, Nightmares on Wax will play while there are also dates et for Craig Charles, Jalen Ngonda, Kruder & Dorfmeister and The Smyths.

The Drill Shed is located within the Margate Lido Complex at 1 Ethelbert Gardens, Cliftonville, Margate, CT9 1RX.
