The Nightmares are a gang of ghoulish, good time, party punks from Dover, Kent. Known for their happy go lucky attitude and thunderstorm songs, they have been pushing their brand of indie/grunge/punk weirdness into the world since 2017.

Since forming on a spooky night in a graveyard (this is genuinely the story), they have worked their way around the local music scene; performing at least once every two weeks (pre 2020) to enthusiastic crowds.

Alongside their live shows they released their first EP in 2019 ‘All Our Shows Are Secret Shows’ (recorded by Dan Elliot at Roswell Recordings) followed by their debut album ‘See You Later Savages’ in September 2020 (recorded with Jason Frye at Century Audio

Plenty of distortion, punchy guitar riffs, pacy drums and forceful lyrics stride up and down the album boldly, but particularly on track ‘Creature’, which had us reminiscing on early Slaves, Wire and Stiff Little Fingers. It’s a proper face-slapping piece of work. We’ve played it through twice already and it was only released today. Awakening.

Their latest single ‘FRANKENSTEIN’, today, sees The Nightmares take their first step into their new post ‘Savages’ direction. This new song showcases the melting pot of everything they love including indie, desert rock, pop-punk and mall screamo.

The track, which features the band’s friend Dominic Coulon of digi-rockers Meet Me in Lavender Town, Salsa Co and Canterbury’s Archdruid, has elements of 70s punk with unfussy harsh vocals, catchy riffs of the 00’s US pop-punk and even some shouty hard rock elements.

“I feel it all the time, I feel like Frankenstein”, the lyrics rain down on the eardrum like the driving, frustrating unending message behind them. If you want something to wake you up, if you want something to get angry to and if you want the perfect entry point to discover what The Nightmares are all about, then this is the track for you
