Thanet's $corcha Boyz to do 9-mile Santa Shred this weekend... and you can join in

$corcha Boyz to hold Santa’s Sponsored Shred to help youngsters in Thanet

Grab a skateboard - or anything with wheels - and get involved in the charity shred from Margate to Reculver.

Skateboarding movement $corcha Boyz (@scorcha_boyz) are holding the event in aid of St Peter’s Pavilion Community Cafe.

The Pavilion was derelict and under threat of being demolished back in 2015, but after a major fundraising campaign by youth worker Victoria Suchak it was brought back to life in 2017.

She runs a youth club from the premises, which is primarily for vulnerable young people in Thanet.

$corcha Boyz are aiming to raise £5,000 in eight weeks towards the cause to help it continue to run its vital services.

“These funds are to continue and expand the amazing work they do with young people of Thanet, “ said the group. “So grab a board, a bike or anything with wheels. Grab some paper and ask your loved ones, your friends, colleagues, whoever, to sponsor you with that cash monies!

“And let’s spread the festive charitable cheer.

“Bring your donations on the day and we will have a collection pot.

“If anyone wants to volunteer or if a business wants to sponsor or donate, give us a shout.”

The shred will begin at 11am at the shelter near the Bus Cafe.

“This is a nine mile ride one way...and if you want to be gnarly, make it 18 miles by riding back.

“You can join or finish at any point of the journey.”

Make sure you come in festive colours or fancy dress.
