ArtistsJoni Belaruski will bring her ‘That's Just the Way We Are’ show to The Mascot Gallery in Ramsgate from March 18th-21st.

Joni Belaruski (@jonibelaruski) is a painter, illustrator and mural artist originally hailing from Limavady in Northern Ireland. After several years in London and a lockdown spent in rural East Sussex, she now lives on Ramsgate's East Cliff.

She is best known locally for the crow artwork she created for rock band The Libertines, which adorns the sign outside their hotel/bar/studio The Albion Rooms on the Margate seafront - as well as for the raucous gigs with her band The Great Malarkey at Ramsgate Festival of Sound and Ramsgate Music Hall.

In a continuation of previous works, this new series of paintings explore the darker side of human nature, from self-destructive tendencies to a propensity towards apathy and inaction in the face of impending doom. Freud called this The Death Drive.

Joni’s work has been exhibited internationally and at several London galleries including BSMT Space, Well Hung and Underdog Gallery. Her artwork has also been used by numerous bands as album/cover art, including Foy Vance, The Urban Voodoo Machine and Deadcuts.
