Claire Pitt Wigmore - Words
Instagram @clairepittwigmore
Margate solo artist Claire Pitt Wigmore returns with new single Words, which discusses the '“issues of teenage struggles and the difficulties someone may face at secondary school for being a little different”.
While an electronic-esque beat underpins the hooks, the artist stays true to her indie/shoegaze stylings with melodic and thoughtful guitar meanderings
Laid down at Ashford’s Anchor Baby Recording Co., the dreamy vocals are punctuated by the occasional noodle riff on a track that’s at home on a chill-out playlist but packed full of thoughtful contemplation.
CRABS - I Gentrify
Instagram: @crabsband
You may already know him as the man in the red boiler suit from Margate, but to us, he is the lead singer of punk outfit CRABS.
While describing themselves as '“The sound of middle-aged Margate”, the anger of track I Gentrify is energising. Think distorted, hard guitars and flaming lyrics spat out in exhausted irritation at the changing state of Kent’s coastal gems.
“Write what you know, they said. And so CRABS began documenting the mundanity of their lives and the world around them. Without meaning to they discovered anger, excitement and the universal truth: everywhere smells of skunk. It all arrives on a wave of snapping punk riffs and the nagging doubt that you might be exactly what you’re railing against. We are CRABS.”
Also check out single Shoot The Poor. It’s f*cking genius.
CMillano & YT - Beijing
Instagram : @cmillano
Already disrupting the underground scene as part of Canterbury collective [escape plan], rapper CMillano has collaborated with renowned North London artist YT for an explosive new album TMilli.
Still with the same easy flow and high production values, CMillano is complemented by the direct and lucid YT. Theres a fistful of great drill tracks to get your ears round, including the pacy and brilliant Canterbury 2 Kilburn alongside artist Kibo.
We picked out track Beijing as it displays the balance between the two artists and the illuminating metaphors they use to form their rhymes across the whole album.
