The Canterbury Festival is back!

Those who enjoyed last year’s smaller-scale event will remember the feelgood factor in the city as the music, comedy, talks and circus skills drew people together in uncertain times. Through social-distanced performances, complex seating arrangements and lots of hand santiser, Canterbury Festival was one of the only arts organisations to welcome live audiences in 2020 and provide artists with the opportunity to do what they do best.

Bigger and better than last year, Canterbury Festival 2021 promises a larger programme that celebrates the joy of live performance, the heritage of our historic City and brings the people of East Kent together. Running from 16 – 30 October, Canterbury Festival will present an exciting array of artists, acts and activities – expect opera, folk, swing, classical, jazz, comedy, circus, theatre, science, cabaret, talks and fantastic family shows.

As an independent charity in challenging times Canterbury Festival relies on the support of its sponsors, funders, members and audiences. They are honoured to be supported for the 11th year by Partner and Principal Sponsor, Canterbury Christ Church University – working closely with different departments to engage staff and students directly in Festival events – on stage, behind the scenes and online. Events will take place at both Festival venues and on campus, exploring music, history, visual arts and even games design – an exciting opportunity to explore our shared commitment to creativity, culture and community.

With the support of Headline Sponsors Kent College, The Canterbury Auction Galleries and Paul Roberts, as well as an array of event sponsors and funders, Canterbury Festival is able to provide truly unique experiences in the heart of the City, brightening even the darkest October evening.

The full programme will be launched on Thursday 29 July. Priority booking for Festival Friends opens on Monday 2 August with public sales opening on Monday 16 August. Until then you can find out all about the Festival’s outdoor concert series Summer in Barham and keep up to date with the latest news at canterburyfestival.co.uk.

The full programme of events for 2021 will be announced in July.
