NEW MUSIC: FT. David Ellis, Malpractice, Pizza Weasel, Marianne Dissard, Wolfie & Harry Shotta
WE HAVE SIX NEW SONGS FOR YOU TO LISTEN TO THIS WEEK
This Friday, while you are social distancing or even heading back to work, let these new tracks from Kent artists tune your ears in to what the most musically productive county in the country sounds like right now.
We have added all tracks to the ‘cene #KeepitKent Spotify Playlist HERE
DAVID ELLIS - DAWN STAR
David’s sentiments hark back to the great songwriters of the 60’s and 70’s. Inspired by Joni Mitchell and Donovan he maintains his focus passionately on the issues of the day and navigates his way through life through his songs.
The Faversham-raised former Razorlight guitarist offers amazingly poetic lyrics and his previous singles ‘Misty Heights’ ‘Baby She Roam’ and ‘Eyes To The Sky’ already receiving illustrious praise from the likes of Clash, Fred Perry Subculture, being chosen as BBC Introducing Record of the week and one of his greatest musical Inspirations, Devendra Banhart describing him as ‘a rare gem’
He released his debut studio album ‘Misty Heights’ in August 2019 David’s songs address the spiritual nature of mankind and attempt to bring humanity back to its senses.
MALPRACTICE - WORLDS MALPRACTICE
@malpracticeband
Canterbury punks Malpractice have returned with second single ‘Worlds Malpractice’.
A fast-paced, angry track written to express the band’s anger and frustration at current world situations. Despite the track being written back in January 2019 it is more relevant now than ever.
PIZZA WEASEL
Margate-based Pizza Weasel has jumped on his skateboard to deliver us a slice of lo-fi indie with crackling distortion-led guitars and catchy riffs on new EP ‘Gonzo delivery’.
He said: “Pizza Weasel as been described as ‘flippant rock for nobody in particular’, but I would describe it more as guitar driven, lo-fi, indie, born from parental disappointment and caffeine.”
Disgruntled personality squabble track ‘Going Down’ is a particular favourite.
MARIANNE DISSARD - STOP THE CAVALRY
Ramsgate's Franco-american chanteuse Marianne Dissard dons her Christmas best on this cover of seasonal classic 'Stop The Cavalry' (Jona Lewie).
It was recorded with Jonathan Richman's drummer Tommy Larkins and her Tucson, Arizona posse of bad Santas. A really decent cover!
WOLFIE - D.I.T.D
Sevenoaks R&B purveyor Wolfie has returned with new EP ‘All Souls’. Already known for her skills at creating mind-owning tracks that stalk your dreams, Wolfie has put together a body of songs that have feeling, soul, heart and beautiful meaning. Kick off with single ‘D.I.T.D’ (Devil’s in the detail). Amazing.

HARRY SHOTTA & COMPLEX - 20 MINUTES
Alongside DJ/producer Complex, Harry Shotta continues to represent Gravesend, Kent and the UK rap scene in general.
Always fresh whether the track is DnB or even a more grimey tilt, Shotta has created another track with a banging hook and chorus line… this time explaining that he can write an absolute banger in ‘20 Minutes’… and I believe him.
