VIBRANT VINO - FAVERSHAM'S WINE EXPERTS

Let Faversham’s resident wine experts take you on a worldwide tasting experience

In a small corner of Faversham, Vino (@vino_faversham ) has been quietly growing an outstanding reputation as the place to go for a proper wine experience.

Behind the maroon-coloured door on Court Street, Fabio Armenti has brought the flavours of southern Italy and an expert wine knowledge to customers looking for something authentic.

Opened in April 2017, the shop is always buzzing with life; in fact, you can often tell the time by Vino. The mornings see the seats outside taken by coffee drinkers - 100% Arabica Italian coffee to be precise, served with a pastry (cannoli, sfogliatelle or home-made cakes) - and in the evening guests will gather around the sociable bar area inside.

With 30 years in the hospitality industry across London and Kent, including a Sommelier Diploma and WSET Level 3 Certificate, it’s fair to say Fabio knows his grapes.

“Wine, for me, is not a hobby,” he says. And if you visit Vino, you’ll realise that it’s a total passion. While special bottles are racked on the shelves in the back seating room, there are always 20 wines by the glass from across the globe on the blackboard, and they change frequently.

Doubling as a wine shop, Vino also has customers taking away a tipple to have at home (it’s free delivery in the town) - just describe what you’re having for dinner and Fabio will find something to suit, with tastings also available.

Stripped-back tables and friendly chatter give Vino that casual feel, while its appetiser-style menu includes cheeses, hams, salamis, terrines, salads and local breads to have alongside your drinks.

For those who might want something other than wine, a few premium spirits with mixers are available, as well as the occasional cold bottled beer.

It’s friendly, unfussy, informative and a brilliant place to fall in love with quality wine. If you haven’t been, you should… but strictly #noplonkers.
