Should I visit... Roddy Burger, Tunbridge Wells?
We had long heard about Roddy’s juicy burgers…
Camden Road in Tunbridge Wells is fast becoming one of the burger epicentres of Kent, with both Chuck & Blade and Side Street Burgers openings in the offing, joining Roddy Burger, which arrived in May.
Born in the borrowed kitchen of Sankey’s, Roddy Burger (@roddyburger) was born during the pandemic before setting up a delivery HQ at the kitchens of The Sussex Arms. And while you can still bag a burger with your pint in the pub, Roddy decided that a new, permanent home was needed.
And what a home! The building has been beautifully decked out, with bi-fold doors opening on to the street, high stools and some amazing Graff artwork.
We had long heard about Roddy’s juicy burgers and on our visit he delivered an Americano with a pair of flavoursome, tender patties, topped with double Monterey Jack cheese, fresh beef tomato and baby gem lettuce and smothered in caramelised onions, pickles and American mustard mayo in a brioche bun. They fu*kin’ nailed it.
And then the game-done-changed when our server recommended crowd favourite beer-battered pickles. Wow! Succulent, crispy, moreish - no wonder the bloke behind me was ordering some to take back to the office!! Naughty boy!
