Review: Should I visit Burrito Buoy in Folkestone?

“the signature burrito stuffed, tucked and rolled”

This spring, the ever-popular Burrito Buoy, known for its colourful kiosk on Folkestone’s Harbour Arm, moved to a permanent bricks-and-mortar location in trendy Tontine Street.

Always oozing happy vibes and whopping West Coast-style Mexican flavours, the owners have created an environment that is warming to be within – and that’s before the chillis get involved.

With a spicy Fireita cocktail or pint of Yeastie Boys in hand, pull up a pew in the stripped-back restaurant or out in the walled garden – you may also want to loosen your belt. What’s about to happen to you is very special.

We took on the quesadillas – a 12-inch wrap filled with cheese and a choice of jalapeno, pulled pork, shredded chicken or chorizo and jalapeno – squashed and grilled for a crunchy yet juicy power pocket.

Next came the loaded nachos with tortilla chips covered in refried beans, guac, sour cream, Pico de Gallo pickled jalapenos, sliced black olives and spring onions, smothered in cheese but given the beautiful freshness with the coriander and lime.

Lastly – I know… we were hungry – we had the signature burrito stuffed, tucked and rolled with shredded chicken, lime and coriander rice, pinto beans, salsa, sour cream and salad. It was as good as it looks and sounds. You need to go. Whoa mumma!
