Folkestone festive marketplace returns to Folkestone Harbour
From mid-November right up to the New Year, the harbour will be transformed into a wonderland of twinkling lights
Get ready to embrace the festive cheer as the Folkestone Festive Marketplace returns to Folkestone Harbour! Set against the stunning backdrop of the harbour and viaduct, this isn’t just a market; it’s a Christmassy oasis right here in Kent.
From mid-November right up to the New Year, the harbour will be transformed into a wonderland of twinkling lights and festive fun. Browse a wonderful array of independent stalls offering unique gifts, seasonal treats and delicious food and drink that will warm you from the inside out.
There is a packed schedule with incredible free entertainment to keep your spirits bright. Daily highlights include free festive films shown at midday, perfect for a lunchtime dose of Christmas magic.
Throughout the weeks, you’ll also find free live music and local choirs filling the air with carols, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere. Between all the merriment, head over to the 12-hole adventure golf course, which transforms into a spectacle of colour with Glow Golf! It’s a fun, competitive and brilliantly glowing activity to add to your festive day out.
But the real showstoppers are the special community events. Mark your diary for the annual Light Switch On, Friday, 14th November, at 7pm - a brilliant way to kick off the season. Join in the special 10-year celebration of the Folkestone Living Advent Calendar on Sunday, 7th December, a beloved local tradition.
The festive mood continues with the Carol Service in the Harbour Station on Friday, 19th December, and the spectacular sight of the Illuminated Christmas Tractors rumbling into the harbour on Saturday, 20th December.
While the festive magic sparkles outside, escape to the warmth of the fantastic array of indoor dining options at Folkestone Harbour. Head to Minutas for mouthwatering Argentine flavours or indulge in seafood classics at Sailbox or the charming Shesells Seashells.
For those looking for that Big Greek taste, Cavells is the place for you, while Little Rock provides a relaxed and welcoming spot for the whole family. Brewing Brothers Beachside is the place to go for a warm welcome and wood-fired pizzas. And, of course, no festive visit is complete without a celebratory glass in the sophisticated yet snug atmosphere of The Lighthouse Champagne Bar.
But the fun doesn’t stop on Christmas Eve! Escape the post-holiday slump during Crimbo Limbo, that glorious, confusing period between Christmas and New Year. Get together in the Goods Yard, 26th December to 1st January, open 11am-4pm daily, with a family favourite film screening at 2pm.
