Offering 24 taps and four cask lines, showcasing the freshest beer brewed just metres away
Set in the beautifully-restored drying oast at Haffenden Farm, the brewery is rooted in more than a century of hop-growing heritage. The farm has been home to Hukins Hops for more than 100 years, making it the perfect setting for a modern craft brewery built on traditional foundations.
Originally starting life in Folkestone, the journey took a defining turn when the opportunity arose to take on the lease at Haffenden Farm. Surrounded by rolling countryside and working hop gardens, it was simply too special to pass up. From that moment, McCanns was born, with brewing officially commencing in June 2023.
What was once an empty barn has been transformed into a state-of-the-art 32-barrel brewhouse, capable of producing more than 160,000 pints of premium craft beer each month. Brewing across kegs, casks and cans, McCanns supplies both trade and direct customers, with an online shop set to launch soon.
At the heart of the experience is the taproom, housed within the characterful old oast. Warm, welcoming and dog-friendly, it offers 24 taps and four cask lines, showcasing the freshest beer brewed just metres away. A viewing window into the brewery gives visitors a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the craft in action.
The food offering has grown just as organically. Since opening in 2024 with a focus on sourdough pizzas, the kitchen has evolved into a key part of the destination. Head chef Scott Aldridge, formerly of Eastwell Manor, leads a menu centred on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. From handcrafted burgers and hearty pies to pizzas and seasonal specials, the menu reflects the same quality and care as the beers themselves. Traditional home-cooked Sunday roasts round off the week perfectly.
For those looking to start their day at the brewery, breakfast is served from Friday through to Sunday, offering the ideal way to ease into the weekend.
Beyond the brewery and taproom, the experience extends into the surrounding countryside. Five beautifully-positioned cabins sit nestled among the hop gardens, offering a peaceful rural escape. Complete with private hot tubs and uninterrupted views, they provide the perfect setting to unwind, switch off and soak up the tranquillity under the stars.
