Discover Intra Arts creative coworking space in Rochester

Welcoming people in to use a wide range of specialist artist-owned equipment.

Intra Arts has run an arts venue and maker space in Rochester High Street since 2014, welcoming people in to use a wide range of specialist artist-owned equipment.

There’s a printmaking studio with an etching press and photo silkscreen facilities, a large kiln for glass fusing, craft machines such as digital cutters, sewing machines and many other tools. The lovely workspaces are used for creative classes, product shot photography, film nights, performances, printing parties, poetry groups or whatever the community wants to hire them for.

It’s important to this non-profit organisation that people feel at home in the workspaces and with the wooden floors and four vintage tables in the main studio there’s a comfortable feel to the place.

A smaller ‘creative room’ houses a Risograph machine
for stencil printed artwork and posters etc and is also used for meetings and as a room for individuals to hire by the day to
work in.

The first thing you see when visiting Intra Arts is the large windows set up as a street-facing gallery with monthly-changing art shows. It’s a striking Victorian building with an Art Deco frontage added in the 1930s. The exhibition programme includes opportunities for individuals or organisations to hire the space, bringing their work to a large audience and reaching people who don’t regularly step inside a gallery.
