Celebrate with Wimpy - Hamburger Hot Spot Turns 70
Supported content: Kent currently has six Wimpy restaurants
When it comes to enjoying a true British burger, Kent is the place to be.
The county currently has six Wimpy restaurants – Beckenham, Bexleyheath, Dartford, Sittingbourne, Strood and Tonbridge – with a further two set to reopen later this year as the Ashford and Maidstone restaurants complete major refurbishment programmes.
And 2024 is a special year for the much-loved heritage brand as it celebrates its 70th anniversary on the British high street.
Having pioneered the hamburger meal in the UK when it opened the doors of the first Wimpy Bar in Lyons Corner House in London in 1954, Wimpy is marking the occasion with an exclusive and carefully-curated Legends Menu.
Every month, through to December, it is unveiling one very special Legends dish – each based on a firm fan favourite and recreated with a modern twist.
During July, Wimpy takes a trip down memory lane to the 1960s, with the arrival of its Peach Whirl – an updated, but equally scrumptious – take on the Peach Melba dessert. Featuring the traditional flavours of soft ice cream and juicy peach slices, it’s now topped with salted caramel popcorn pieces, toffee fudge sauce, chocolate strands, a cherry and a wafer.
For hungry holidaymakers and locals alike, August serves up the Wimpy Maxi with Chips – a mouthwatering limited edition burger with two quarterpounder patties of pure British beef, served on a brioche bun, with a new tomato relish.
Future dishes include a tasty Wimpy Shanty Burger, the Wimpy Platinum Derby and a fabulous Wimpy Knickerbocker Whirl – a very special take on its iconic Knickerbocker Glory.
Why not join in the celebrations with a visit to Wimpy! See website for opening hours. Delivery and takeaway also available.
