bOing! International Family Festival returns to Canterbury for 2026

A free weekend of excitement and adventure for all the family

Kent’s biggest family arts festival returns with a packed weekend of innovative and exciting performers, live music, crafty and techie workshops, plus food, drink and plenty of space to sit out in the sunshine.

Run by Gulbenkian Arts Centre with funding from Arts Council England, bOing! remains free to enter, with loads of free activities, plus a maximum ticket price of £7.50 for indoor theatre performances.

Audiences this summer will be treated to the usual medley of high-quality family theatre, energetic outdoor performances, great live music and creative workshops.

Highlights for this year include Double You (Be Flat), an imaginative circus performance where audiences can experience the show in two different ways.

Mika and the Polar Bear (Coalesce Dance) is an epic adventure to find a new home, while an intergalactic space-biker crash-lands on Tiny Planet (Half A String) and Fish Boy (2Faced Dance) has a fin-tastic quest to save a river.

For the smallest visitors, SeeSaw by Reallynice and InSideWays by bOing! regulars Oily Cart offer baby sessions.

For older children, there are workshops including Minecraft Coding, Lego Robotics, screen printing and Animate’s Crafty Cart, plus a planetarium and mini-golf!

Everyone can enjoy the bOing! Music Stage, part-programmed by Supajam and including Gombo, Charlie Hannah & the Houseplants, Owen & The Eyeballs, Paddy Steer and Mua Mboob & Xam Xam, plus Racehorse Company from Finland return with a free outdoor performance that will send you Spinsane.

Digital features this year, with the return of the amazing VR Swing experience VOLO, while of course bOing! is not complete without a Luminarium!

The festival offers specialist shows and sessions for neurodiverse audiences and a relaxed cinema screening (lights up and sound levels down); all bOing! spaces are wheelchair-accessible.
