“Their Eastenders-inspired mac n cheese options looked tasty enough to curb even Ian Beale’s tears”

New on the scene, Roni & Rita’s is owned by three best mates, who may well have a combined 35 years in hospitality but only one true dream… to serve delicious Detroit-style pizza and crispy fried chicken, of course.

A delicious reward for those traversing the steep streets of the Old Town, Roni & Rita have already set town tongues-a-wagging with their enticing lasagna slabs and walls packed with retro curiosities.

And while their Eastenders-inspired mac n cheese options (think the Mitchell brothers, Janine and Tiffany) looked tasty enough to curb even Ian Beale’s tears, we knew there was only one place to start… dun, dun, durn… three juicy, fried-chicken tenders (£7) in a secret spice mix. Dips came in the form of the tingling buffalo sauce and the deeply flavoursome confit garlic sauce.

We added a side of spuds - crushed and salted new potatoes - which were absolutely banging. For the square-style pizza by the slice we had the Roni (£5.50), topped with pepperoni, Parmesan and hot honey. Epic. The only question bigger than ‘Who shot Phil Mitchell?’ is how on Earth did you fill us up for little more than a tenner?
