Turtle murals, nipple tassels and woodcut tattoos
The whiff of barbecue smoke in the air, the tarmac melting the soles of your creps and that familiar pain of not knowing which festival to spend your wedge on. F*ck! How much have we missed that?!
There is so much going on in Kent right now with the creative and hospitality industries pulling everything forwards - it really does feel like a rebirth is upon us. There is an air that something big is about to happen, that previous chickens are about to finally come home to roost… I think you know where I’m going with this.
This edition of ‘cene focuses on the coming summer. Things to do, places to be, experiences to have.
We speak to international street artist Louis Masai about bringing his environmentally-focused murals project to Margate, while Dan Joyce opens up about his happy place opposite the new F51 skatepark in Folkestone. Photographer Zuzu Valla explains where she finds beauty, while forager Fergus Drennan talks about
eating wild.
There’s eco-sequins with the Mermaid Cave, the blues with ilselena, gothic tattoos with Maidstone John, witches of Thanet and BBC’s new DnB maestro Charlie Tee and so much more.
Enjoy.
