The world’s first purpose built multi-storey skatepark F51 in Folkestone has announced that work has started on the final skatepark floor within their multi-storey skatepark facility with doors still set to open its doors in Autumn 2021.
New images and a time-lapse video have been released showing off the skate floor for the first time.

Folkestone 51 have worked with Jenner and Cambian Action Sports over the last handful of months to initiate work on the final skateable floor of the facility. Due to the nature of timber, installation has rested upon completion of the building’s cladding which F51 is happy to confirm was a success.

The flow floor will be home to 650 square metres of skateable timber surface. It will feature wallrides, volcanoes, waterfalls, blends, skateable pillars and more.

The team at F51 says they are excited about this floor as it will offer plenty of challenges for experienced riders while also acting as the perfect training ground for beginners learning to ride transition due to its wide variety of quarters and hips.

Moreover, the flow floor will provide skaters of all abilities with a chance to refine their transition skating abilities before taking their tricks to our world class concrete bowls located on our first floor.

Alex Frost, F51 Project Officer, Said: It is beyond exciting to witness the near completion of our skateable floors, particularly the flow floor, which we’ve been eagerly anticipating since the completion of our cladding installation. Our timber skate floors offer a wide range of opportunities for riders and skaters of all abilities. As a new skater or BMXer, these are the floors you will spend the majority of your time on as you develop your confidence and ability.

“The attention to detail in the shape and design of F51’s flow floor is something I haven’t seen in many indoor skateparks across the country. Cambian Action Sports’ knowledge of ‘flow’ and smooth movement shines through on this floor. Skateboard and BMX lines have been carefully thought out and mapped throughout the many avenues and routes you can take to navigate around 650 square metres of timber bowl.”

Funded by The Roger De Haan Charitable Trust and run by local sports charity, Shepway Sports Trust, Folkestone 51 will also be home to the largest lead climbing wall in the South East while also homing bouldering facilities and a boxing gym.

With three floors dedicated to skateboarding, including two world class suspended concrete bowls, F51 expects to draw many skateboarders and BMXers both nationally and internationally.

F51’s design, location and conception aims to revolutionise the way we look at town/city spaces and how we can incorporate more facilities for sport and young people within town centres that may already feel cramped and populated.
