Artist Callout - Chatham Waterfront Pumping Station - Public Art Commission
An exciting opportunity for an artist to work with Francis Knight, Exterior Architecture and Medway Development Company, to change the face of Chatham Town Centre
Medway Development Company are inviting expressions of interest for a significant commission on Chatham Waterfront. This commission is an open call. Francis Knight have been appointed by Medway Development Company as the public art consultants and will project manage this commission.
Built in the 1960s, Chatham Waterfront Pumping Station is in a prominent location and visually stands out due to its red brick façade. Tired and in desperate need of a makeover, the pumping station is an operational building owned by Southern Water. Over the years, previous proposals have suggested concealing the pump house, however as part of the regeneration of the waterfront Medway Development Company will reinstate its former and distinctive architectural form.
This commission forms part of a new public art programme, centred around Chatham town centre. Commissioned by Medway Development Company, the public art focuses on Chatham Waterfront and Mountbatten House, two major regeneration sites bringing residential living and commercial space to the heart of Chatham.

Eligibility
If you wish to be considered for this commission, you will be required to submit images and supporting information as follows:
Current CV with evidence of up to 3 examples (maximum) of public artworks which have been undertaken in the last 5 years and are relevant to this brief.
Link to website(s) profiling artistic practice with previous work relevant to this brief.
An Expression of Interest on why you would like this commission and your approach (Maximum 2 sides of A4).
Public Liability Insurance up to £5 million and Professional Indemnity Insurance to the value of £5 million.
Budget
The selected artist will be appointed to prepare artwork up to detailed design. Detailed design will be a collaboration with the landscape architects, Southern Water and the development partners. A budget of up to £30,000 will be available to the artist to include fees, materials, fabrication and installation.
