NEW MUSIC: FT. SCOWL, NAMANI, FLORRIE & Art School Girlfriend
Kent’s New Music Friday… picking out tracks that have entered our ears in the past week!
This Friday, while you are social distancing or even heading back to work, let these new tracks from Kent artists tune your ears in to what the most musically productive county in the country sounds like right now.
We have added all tracks to the ‘cene #KeepitKent Spotify Playlist HERE
SCOWL - LORD PORNO

Fizzing distortion and belligerent vocals is exactly what the doctor ordered and, no doubt, expected from a band named ‘Scowl’.
The Tunbridge Wells punk/noise rock trio have already biffed some noses with their chaotic live performances supporting the likes of TW punk counterparts Lady Bird, Slaves’ Issac Holman and FEET. But now signed to Blitzcat Records, they have returned with new track ‘Lord Porno’.
Named after bassist Sadie's first band, 'Lord Porno', is “an anthem, borne out of the deep seated anger and frustration one feels when you come to terms with a situation that's irreparable”.
They are young, irritated and carving out their own punk pathway. Disgruntled.
NAMANI - TABASCO
Phew! Former Kent student Namani has collaborated with Jake Laud to lay down some tongue tingling bars with new track ‘Tabasco’.
Lyrically lucid, Namani has a knack of hooking your ears with everyday points of reference, before spinning them for his own metaphors.
A tempered beat and hook allows the vocals to take centre stage, while the chorus smashes through time and again.
Coming soon after his album ‘The Sommer Pack’, Namani is certainly one to keep an eye on going forward. Spicy.
FLORRIE - WALK AWAY
Instagram: @florrie
Westerham’s Florrie has continued her productive start to 2021, following up releases “Garden’ and ‘Hours’, with new track ‘Walk Away’.
A relative veteran of the music scene, Florrie cut her teeth as the in-house drummer at the famous Xenomania production house (also in Westerham), known for their work with pop icons such as Kylie Minogue, Girls Aloud and many more.
A recording artist since 2010, Florrie looks to be drawing on her experiences of the past decade to release pure, unadulterated pop classics, and ‘Walk Away’ is one of those. Referencing a past relationship that is now over, it feels cathartic and relieving. But more than that, to the audience anyway, it has a catchy chorus, bubbling melody and sweet sounds. Vibrant.
ART SCHOOL GIRLFRIEND - IN THE MIDDLE

Hazy puffs of dream-sonics punctuated with soaring vocals, Margate’s Art School Girlfriend has returned with her first track for over a year - ‘In The Middle’.
Beautifully crafted, her skills with synth add a meandering and boundless quality to what is really a classic pop structure, built on a catchy chorus and alluring melody. It’s new wavey-style could be compared to that of Hurts, but it also feels so unique. All in all, it’s fu*king good.
